Any extension of the Spa Valley Railway to Eridge must pass over Forge Farm Crossing. This view looks north, with the disused SVR line on the right. 05.10.2003 |
The same view north as the previous picture, taken in 2008. Adjacent foliage has been cut back to improve sight lines. The Network Rail line is nearest to the camera. 28.01.2008 |
Also looking north from Forge Farm Crossing along the Spa Valley Railway line. Owing to the curve the view is more restricted. Graffiti tags have been edited from this picture. They appear even at remote crossings. 28.01.2008 |
The view north from Forge Farm Crossing after the contractors had completed their work refurbishing the SVR track, with the Spa Valley line on the right. I am not convinced that the trees on the curve on the right are clear of the track. Further work still has to be done to protect this user operated level crossing. 29.07.2008 |
The same view north on 02.03.2009. Network Rail has undertaken extensive lineside clearance in the area which has transformed sight lines at Forge Farm Crossing. |
Turbostar 171801 runs south around the curve towards the crossing. The layout of this crossing has the potential to be confusing for users as trains will be running both ways on both lines. The Network Rail line speed is 60mph. 02.03.2009 |
Forge Farm Crossing, looking south towards Eridge in 2003. The single operational Network Rail line is on the right, the disused Spa Valley line on the left. 05.10.2003 |
Almost the same view in 2008. Again it can be seen that the sight lines have been improved by the removal of adjacent bushes. 28.01.2008 |
Looking south from Forge Farm Crossing along the Spa Valley Railway line leading to Eridge. Again the view of the SVR line is more restricted. 28.01.2008 |
Looking south from Forge Farm Crossing an old signal post is almost concealed in the bushes. 28.01.2008 |
A closer look with a longer lens shows the old post more clearly. 28.01.2008 |
The view south from Forge Farm Crossing after the contractors had restored the Spa Valley Railway line (on the left). The track has been refurbished and the trees cut back. 29.07.2008 |
